5K | UNC Dance Marathon

UNC Dance Marathon is hosting its inaugural 5K FTK and one-mile Fun Run on December 1st!! This is an event for people of all ages: students, families, you name it!

5K and T-shirt: $20
Fun Run and T-shirt: $15
T-shirt: $15
Race Day Registration: $25

* Register by November 17 to guarantee your t-shirt size - youth sizes are available!

Check out the course map here. There will be awards presented shortly after the race with goodie bag making, activities and light refreshments available to enjoy post race.

If you are a UNC student dancer in the 2013 UNC Dance Marathon, money raised beyond the event fee WILL count towards your dancer total! The mission of The UNC Dance Marathon is to unite the University, community, and state in fostering emotional and financial support that improves the quality of life for the patients, families, and staff of N.C. Children's Hospital.

For The Kids

John's Story

John was born at 27 weeks gestation. He was immediately transferred to N.C. Children’s Hospital’s Newborn Critical Care Center. His family resides in Cameron, N.C., but his mother stays at the Ronald McDonald house in order to easily visit John in the NICU, but John’s father stays in Cameron during the week to take care of John’s siblings. John’s father is active duty Army and has returned to work. Due to the cost of gas and parking, it has been difficult for John’s father and siblings to visit John on the weekends. Shortly after his son was admitted to the NICU, John’s father called his wife in tears, worried that his monthly income would not be sufficient enough to provide gas, parking, food and other necessities for his family. “Have faith– everything will work out,” his wife told him. Since then, UNC-DM has provided John’s family with weekly gas cards, allowing John’s father and his siblings to visit.
