Community
As the UNC Dance Marathon mission statement reads, the Dance Marathon “unifies the University and surrounding community in order to improve the quality of life for the children and families of the North Carolina Children’s Hospital.”
The close partnership that exists between the students at Carolina and the Chapel Hill, Raleigh and Durham communities is undeniably an integral part of Dance Marathon’s continued success year after year.
You can help the 2008 marathon continue to grow as a celebrated Carolina tradition by becoming an active supporter of the N.C. Children’s Hospital within the community!
There are many ways in which you can pledge your support and get involved
- Sign up to play on a team at the inaugural UNC Dance Marathon Homecoming
Golf Classic to be held on Friday, November 2, 2007. Scheduled
as one of Carolina’s General Alumni Association’s Homecoming “Rampage” weekend
events, the UNC Dance Marathon Homecoming Golf Classic is sure to
be a Tar Heel triumph for the kids. This golf tournament
will take place at The Preserve at Jordan Lake Golf Club, located
just south of Chapel Hill and west of Raleigh and voted one of America’s
Top 40 best new golf courses by Golfweek magazine. For more information, visit
www.alumni.unc.edu/homecoming or contact our Alumni Development Chair, Jenna Brooks, at DanceMarathonGolf@unc.edu. - The UNC Dance Marathon holds an annual Benefit Reception and Silent Auction each winter to involve the community surrounding UNC-Chapel Hill in our mission For the Kids. In past years, doctors, philanthropists, socialites, and other community members have gathered at the Carolina Inn to support Dance Marathon and bid on auction items such as trips to Mexico, summer camp tuition, UNC basketball tickets, fine artwork and many other items. To request an invitation to the next Benefit Reception, to be held on Friday, February 1, 2008 , or to make a donation to the Silent Auction, please e-mail our Community Events Chair, Erin Davis at DMCommevents@unc.edu.
All proceeds raised at these events will go directly to our For the Kids Fund, a unique fund that benefits the patients and families of the N.C. Children’s Hospital. For more information about our For the Kids Fund, click here.
