The UNC Dance Marathon raises money throughout the year to benefit the patients and families of N.C. Children’s Hospital, but we strive to personally connect with the families as well. We would love to consider all families of the children’s hospital a part of the UNC Dance Marathon family. We want to offer you as much support and help as we can, and we hope that through this section of our website, you can find resources that you need.
You may have seen volunteers from UNC Dance Marathon at work in the hospital during your stay. If you ever run into us, please feel free to ask us any questions you may have. For more information now, click here to learn more about where our money goes.
PARENT’S NIGHT OUT
Each week from September through February, come to the 6th floor on Tuesday night from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m for Parents’ Night Out. Our committee members serve a free, delicious, hot meal to anyone who stops by, and will gladly deliver meals to patients’ rooms as well (this free meal is also provided from March through August by UNC Volunteer Services).
One Sunday afternoon a month from September through February, UNC Dance Marathon hosts a social in the Pediatric Playroom. All ages are invited to participate in the activities we have planned, which often include face painting, bowling, corn hole and arts and crafts. Each social is themed based on the month; past themes include carnival, UNC athletes, a holiday party and welcome to the jungle. In addition to the monthly socials, you will often find UNC Dance Marathon volunteers in the Pediatric Playroom for games and activities with the kids.
During the week UNC Dance Marathon committee members and dancers volunteer in the General Pediatric Clinic waiting room. You will find us reading to children or playing games on the Wii.
